Shorts used to be….short. Back in the 1970’s tight short, shorts were all the rage. If you look back at pictures of Larry Bird or Wilt Chamberland you might be surprised to see just how short they were. Then along came Jordan.
Michael Jordan not only dominated a sport, he also created a new trend in fashion. He’d sometimes tug on his shorts when playing defense, so he had the seam of his shorts dropped. His team mates followed his lead and before long everybody in the NBA wore long baggy shorts. The looser fitting shorts may be a little more comfortable, but they are certainly a fashion statement that’s here to stay.
Women’s athletic shorts are another story. They are shorter and cut to follow a woman’s natural lines and curves.
